Beth Sanderson - Designer at E3Design

Each month we plan to chat with industry professionals about design and innovation. Want to take part?

For this Interview, we’ve are thrilled to get to chat to one of our new Designers, Beth Sanderson!

Who are you?

A new friendly face whom you will be seeing much more of at E3Design. I'm a Product Designer with over 6 years of industry experience, who has just recently joined the E3D family, and I'm so grateful to the team for making me feel at home straight away. 8 weeks in already, lots of exciting projects kickstarted and many more to come...

What inspires you to be a creative?

Understanding current user problems and establishing their needs and expectations grow my creative curiosity and experimentation. Gaining user insight helps highlight gaps in the market, which helps inspire innovative solutions.

As a kinaesthetic learner, most of my personal inspiration for creativity, creation and innovation comes from growing up on a Farm, where most of the days were spent figuring out how machinery and products worked. I wanted to enter a career path where I had a personal hand in the creation of products and services!

What is ‘innovation’ for you?

Innovation pushes boundaries and makes an impact. It can be anything that delivers improvements and adds value, big or small, which can be practically implemented to solve real-world problems.

What are the challenges in your current role?

The nature of this role is to overcome challenges. Product designers will face many challenges, such as trying to balance form and function, considering technical feasibility, and fitting within time and budget constraints, just to name a few. But navigating these challenges is what helps develop creativity and problem-solving in design.

What is the most rewarding part of your role and what you do?

Seeing a concept evolve from sketches into a tangible product is the first rewarding aspect. However, developing a tangible product that enhances usability and improves a service is the main goal, and achieving this is very fulfilling.

What are your ambitions?

To better myself every day, with the goal of developing my skills so that I can fit into a position where I can confidently share my knowledge and positively impact those around me.

Following this, my main career ambitions are to, not only improve as a creative, but to also gain leadership skills to support both E3Design and to support future creatives.
